Feroza Fakir
Feroza Fakir hailed by many as the mother of the beauty industry started her career in the early 80’s during the very dark apartheid era, when there were not too many opportunities available. Persistent, she did not let this deter her. She completed her Studies in Beauty Therapy, after completing her 3 year studies she went on to lecturing and partnering up in a beauty schools. Owned her own Beauty Salons and got very involved in product development. Coming from a background with bleak opportunities, Feroza Fakir has spent her entire life mentoring, coaching and sharing her knowledge selflessly without expecting anything in return.
She sits on the Services SETA Personal Care Chamber Board. She is the past president of the South African Beauty Association, where her board and she objected to the registration of the Allied Health for many years. Feroza and Philippa Crichton who was President of SAAHSP amalgamated the two associations. Feroza with Services SETA played a vital role in reciprocity with Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa.
She also played an integral role in developing designation with industry players in the early days of the Services SETA Beauty Chamber Board as the Chairperson. Past Vice President for The South African Association of Health and Skincare Professionals and served on many boards. She is currently a QAP director at South African Association of Health And Skincare Professional.
Feroza initiated World Skills Competition with the Services SETA for the Beauty Sector. She is still involved in the project management of the Beauty World Skills Competition Nationally and is the Deputy National Expert. Her passion is developing the competition to go international.
Her passion is skills development. She has judged many competitions nationally and internationally. Feroza has received many accolades and was also published in the WOW Top 50 Inspiring Icons globally. She is also involved in many community uplifting programs. She is not only mother to her 2 daughters and grand kids, but also to many other children she comes across within the beauty industry.
