Sophia Byanaku
Sophia Byanaku Janabi, is a driven Health Policy Analyst whose passion to develop the health industry, entrepreneurial instincts and clarity of vision led her to co- found Doctors Plaza Heart Clinic in 2012, a chain of clinics committed to provide quality health care experience where she
serves as Managing Partner.
Doctors Plaza provides specialized and general services through a pool of top-notch health service experts under one roof.
Ms. Sophia Byanaku is also a founder of Bloom Wellness Ltd Tanzania, an organization that enables them to create programs that help employees thrive by engaging them in a holistic well-being educational modules and activities.
Sophia is also a women health activist through her role as Executive Director of Forward Motion, a non-profit organization she founded in 2014 dedicated to invest in women and young girl’s with specific focus in the areas of Health and Economic empowerment.
Through her continuous work to advocate for Women’s and girls’ Health issues in her country Sophia was recognized as the 2014 Global Health and Diplomacy Fellow where she represented the youth in her country by participating in the 2014 UN General Assembly Health and Young Girl’s Empowerment Forums.
Sophia received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from The University of Dar es Salaam in 2005 and it was there that she developed her passion for women empowerment.
After graduating she worked in the Banking Sector; Standard Bank Tanzania and National Microfinance Bank both in Human Resources dealing with employees and social welfare management. She also worked as a Business Development Manager at African Life Assurance, a health and life insurance company where she developed a strong passion of health management and went to pursue a Masters Degree in Health Policy Planning and Management from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in 2011.
